Relying on God

Kaleb Fontenot

We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure. . . . But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God. . . . — 2 Corinthians 1:8-9

High school can be a very stressful time in your life. Maybe you are struggling to get that ACT score for the college you want to attend, you’re flooded with tests in the coming week, or maybe you just struggle to fit in. Whatever you are dealing with, allowing stress to take over is never the right choice. Stress has a way of bending us out of shape, making us act in ways that aren’t the usual us, and making us more defenseless than usual to sin. We find ourselves at odds with people, losing patience when we need it most, or becoming depressed. Ultimately, stress can cause us to take our eyes off God and focus only on our problems. So how should we cope with stress? Lean on the power of God’s word and pray. Ask God for the strength, wisdom, and patience to push through. Lastly, remember that God has a plan for your life and he will never put you through anything he knows you cannot handle. You are stronger than you think you are, and with God you are unstoppable!
